Melinda Thomas entered the lending industry in 1998 during a refinancing boom. Friends encouraged her to join the mortgage industry while she was in college, studying for her Series 7 exam. Starting in processing at Countrywide, she quickly advanced to underwriting, closing and, eventually, management. A former market manager for a major homebuilder’s mortgage division, Thomas transitioned into sales for greater flexibility after the birth of her daughter. Her early experience provided her with a strong foundation in finance, which has been pivotal throughout her 26-year career.
Thomas is recognized for her driven, relationship-focused approach, emphasizing empathy, transparency and superior customer service. Clients — including first-time buyers, self-employed borrowers and veterans — consistently praise her as attentive, professional and hardworking. She specializes in a multitude of loan types, including jumbo loan financing, in addition to investment property financing and low-to-moderate-income lending programs. Her collaborative approach ensures a seamless lending process, with clients frequently noting her ability to go above and beyond.
Thomas’s achievements include receiving JPMorganChase’s prestigious One Chase award in both 2023 and 2024 — a testament to her dedication, integrity and industry expertise. She also serves as a Midwest Culture Council representative for the company’s home-lending division. Her deep experience across all aspects of lending, from underwriting and processing to closing, enables her to handle complex scenarios with skill and efficiency.
Outside of work, Thomas is a devoted single mother to her 13-year-old daughter, who excels academically and athletically. Together, they enjoy traveling, snowboarding, wakeboarding and hosting family gatherings. Annual trips to destinations such as Mexico and Hawaii are among their cherished traditions.
