Mario R. Barrios, Senior Real Estate Broker

RE/MAX Premier, Chicago City Properties Group

Originally from Guatemala, Mario R. Barrios immigrated to the U.S. at age 18 without speaking English and only $20 in his pocket. Today, he is one of the top-producing Latino brokers in Chicago’s North Side market. “As a child, I wanted to be an architect or engineer, and that love turned into a passion for real estate,” he shares. “Helping individuals and families build wealth and memories through real estate fills my heart.”

A senior real estate broker with RE/MAX Premier and team lead of Chicago City Properties Group, Barrios covers Logan Square, Bucktown, Wicker Park, West Town, Avondale, Irving Park, North Center, Lakeview, Lincoln Square, Jefferson Park, Portage Park and the Northwest side of Chicago. Bilingual in English and Spanish, he credits his success to his resilience, experience and honesty, declaring that this business is not for the faint of heart. “There is always a challenge and a lesson to be learned in every situation,” he says.

The Chicago Association of Realtors named Barrios a top producer from 2018 to 2023. He is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, which has honored him in the past with the Top 250 Latino Agents award. He also belongs to the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals. “My expertise comes from experience and hard work, earning every single transaction,” he insists. “I focus on helping people and solving their real estate-related issues; success in this business comes as a byproduct of that. Like Les Brown said, ‘Help others achieve their dream, and you will achieve yours.’”

With a deep understanding of construction, Barrios enjoys helping his clients find the right balance of charm, functionality and value while house hunting or preparing a property for sale. In his free time, he likes remodeling properties; doing hot yoga; biking around the city; running on the 606 or Lakefront Trail; playing with his rescue dog, Dakota; and spending quality time with loved ones.
