Mainstreet Organization of Realtors

John Gormley, CEO

Tim Ryan, President

As the CEO of the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors, John Gormley is devoted full time to fulfilling the association’s mission to empower real estate professionals to thrive and find joy in their careers. With a deep background in association leadership, especially with Realtor organizations throughout the United States, Gormley is the face of the organization and is well suited for his multifaceted role that includes nonvoting positions on Mainstreet’s board of directors and executive committee.

“The National Association of Realtors board of choice policy allows Realtors to join any local association they want,” Gormley explains. “There are roughly 1,200 local Realtor associations in the U.S. and 10 to 12 throughout Chicagoland. Needless to say, we’re happy whenever Realtors choose Mainstreet as their association home.”

One such Realtor who chose Mainstreet is industry veteran Tim Ryan, who juggles managing a family-owned multimillion-dollar portfolio of rental properties with the Mainstreet board presidency—a balance that has only served to increase the longtime Mainstreet board member’s knowledge and strengthen his business. “From working as a managing broker of our family-owned brokerage for more than 20 years to now being the president of Mainstreet Organization of Realtors and a board member at the state level, I have extensive knowledge and experience in all areas of real estate that helps me rise above the competition,” Ryan says.

Gormley and Ryan are proud that Mainstreet Realtors has been named a Great Place to Work by the Daily Herald and Real People Realty has been named a Chicago Tribune Top Workplace. They agree that lasting relationships are key to their success with clients, staff and Mainstreet’s 20,000 Chicagoland members.

In 2023, Gormley was inducted into the Dr. Almon “Bud” R. Smith, RCE, CAE, Association Executive Leadership Society by the NAR. The kayaker and mountain biker serves on the board of trustees for the Conservation Foundation of northeastern Illinois. Ryan is the Illinois Realtors’ vice chair on public policy and a missionary for Missions of Hope International.
