A practicing attorney, Jeffrey Marks took up real estate law after feeling disillusioned with litigation, sensing he was not contributing any kind of positivity to the world. “Real estate law allows me to be a part of one of the happiest days of many people’s lives,” Marks shares. “I feel that as a real estate attorney, I have a positive impact on my clients’ lives.” In the industry for 10 years, he is with Busse & Busse P.C., specializing in residential and commercial real estate law throughout Chicagoland.
Growing up in Schaumburg, Marks has lived in Chicago, the North Shore and other surrounding areas his entire life. His practice is unique in that he covers all of the Chicago area. “It is not unusual for me to start my day with a closing downtown; then to Hyde Park; to Oak Lawn; to Crystal Lake; and end my day near Gurnee,” he explains. Attending every purchase closing, he only uses Zoom when he’s not feeling well. “It is very important to me to be at each closing personally and sit across from my clients to make sure they are comfortable with the process,” he insists. He is nicknamed “The Louboutin Lawyer” because of the fancy, red-bottom designer shoes he wears to his closings. “It’s a fun icebreaker, especially around nervous clients.”
Named Illinois Super Lawyer, a peer-nominated award, for the past five years, Marks has been listed in Who’s Who in Chicago Real Estate in 2023 and again in 2024. A sponsoring member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, he has handled more than 5,000 closings, allowing him to handle any kind of situation. Available after hours and on weekends, he tries to stay active on social media but admits that his best piece of technology is his staff of three paralegals.
Before his law career, Marks was in the video game industry and still enjoys playing video games, especially with his 16-year-old son, Ethan.
