George Kamberos’ path into the lending business was ignited by his admiration for a family friend who was also a top producer in the lending industry. “I bought my first condo right after graduating college,” recalls Kamberos, senior vice president of mortgage lending at CrossCountry Mortgage. “I loved the way he took me through the process from beginning to end. At that time, I was still trying to figure out which direction I wanted to go in, and he needed help with his business, so I dove in headfirst and never looked back.”
Client testimonials paint a vivid picture of his dedication and personalized service, noting that Kamberos is always available. When a client is referred to him, he never passes them off to a colleague. “My clients know I actually care about their purchase and I’m right there with them to help reach their goals,” he says.
Amidst the tumultuous waves of the mortgage market, Kamberos’ unwavering commitment to excellence is evident. He recently concluded his second-highest year in terms of purchase volume in the 12 years since he started in the business. Recently he applied to the Scotsman Guide for recognition as a Top Originator, though he points out he has produced at such a high level for the past several years that he has qualified for the honor every one of those years.
When asked about the secret to his success, Kamberos attributes it to his ability to simplify the complex world of mortgages for his clients. “Having a strong grasp of numbers, and being able to simplify them for my clients, is one of my strengths,” he says. “The more education and perspective I can give clients on the initial phone call goes a long way to giving them the trust they need to work with me.”
Kamberos stands tall in the mortgage world for the personal attention he lavishes on his clients. “The amount of education I provide my clients helps build trust,” he points out. “If your lender isn’t answering your phone call on a Saturday or Sunday, you should be calling me.”
