Shanley Henry, Broker

Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty

Three years of working in real estate has taught Shanley Henry that details matter. If she does all the little things well, such as being on time, in touch, responsive, organized and proactive, it helps make the process and her business run smoothly.

Whether communicating with clients or other brokers, Henry knows real estate requires managing expectations and not being afraid to have tough conversations. “I always want my clients to feel in the loop on such a major life decision and to know that I will always be in touch in a timely manner,” she says. A broker with Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty, Henry assists first-time, move-up and luxury buyers and sellers in the city and North Shore.

Highly communicative, she always prepares clients for what’s next and all possible outcomes. “I feel strongly that agents should be like consultants who guide clients in their decision, and not add pressure to buy or sell,” she says. “Ultimately the decision is theirs; I will help weigh the pros and cons and provide advice on the best path forward.”

Named 2018 Rookie of the Year by Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty, Henry belongs to the Chicago Association of Realtors’ Member Care Task Force and the coworking space The Wing. She also supports a variety of charities, such as Teach For America and I Grow Chicago.

Initially Henry worked in digital marketing for Travel + Leisure magazine and a tech startup. “Being in client-facing roles where you’re helping brands make decisions about their marketing has a surprising amount of crossover with helping people make decisions about their lifestyle and home choice,” she says. “It has shown me the importance of branding, social media posts, running Facebook ads for a listing, and making sure any marketing piece I’m putting out there is cohesive and appealing.”

In her free time, the former college basketball and volleyball player likes to work out daily and ski in the wintertime.
