With a background in sales and a detailed understanding of Chicago’s western suburbs, Peggy Smego took charge to deal with unexpected life circumstances by diving into a career in real estate. The fact that she was deeply embedded in the fabric of her community made the transition that much smoother. “We have lived within my marketplace for over 25 years, and after volunteering at countless church, school and community events, I came to know the communities very well,” Smego says. “I learned to take the team approach and transferred that knowledge to my philosophy for listing and buying.”
Smego has been ranked in NRT’s top 1,000 agents every quarter for the past five years, has been a member of Coldwell Banker’s President’s Club for 10 years, and was also honored in Five Star Magazine. “My clients are intelligent, savvy and able to make great decisions, so I don’t see it as my job to sell them on anything,” Smego says. “What I will do is continually touch base with them to ensure that we’re on the same page. That way, they are in control of their own destiny.”
Specializing in both luxury clients and first-time homebuyers, Smego’s market includes Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Western Springs, La Grange and Downers Grove. “I will go to great lengths to find properties that may not even be available yet,” she says. I stay with the clients over time, sometimes even years, to connect them with their ideal home.”
Always eager to learn more about the real estate industry, Smego enjoys gathering market data and trends from other professionals in the business, including lawyers, lenders and inspectors.
An active supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Breakthrough Urban Ministries, Bridge Communities Inc. and the Transitional Housing Ministry at St. Isaac Jogues Church, Smego enjoys golf, cooking, biking and spending time with her family. She thanks God for her health, family, friends and continued success.
