Kate Stephens has worked as an investment banker in New York and as a branding expert in Chicago, but as the daughter of a real estate agent, she always knew she wanted to have a career in the industry. Now with seven years of experience in the business, Stephens loves that she has the opportunity to help clients with some of the most important transactions of their lives.
Stephens serves a variety of investors, which allows her to keep an eye on up-and-coming neighborhoods. She also enjoys working with clients searching for the best neighborhood schools; with children of her own, Stephens understands how important it is to find the right educational opportunities.
Stephens believes her skills in project management have been the most instrumental to her success. “I once worked for someone who told me to never present a problem without also presenting a solution — and that’s the way I work with my clients,” she says.
Stephens is a Georgetown University graduate with degrees in finance and marketing, and also has an MBA focused in marketing and strategy from the University of Chicago. That background has served her well in real estate. But moving to Compass last year was a game changer for her career. “I know who to reach out to and when,” she says. “My pipeline has never been so robust, and I expect my business to increase by 50 percent in 2019 and 2020.”
One of the main challenges Stephens faces in her career is a familiar one: balancing her time between her family and career. She credits her efforts to plan ahead and stay organized for enabling her to manage both, and she is on track to have her best year yet in the industry.
