Brian Weis entered into mortgage banking 22 years ago in search of a career that would be intellectually stimulating and positively impact others, and as the senior vice president/area manager and team leader for Chicago Lending of Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, Weis has found just that. In addition to loan origination, Weis is responsible for growing Fairway’s Chicagoland business and providing support for his team. Within the last three years, he and his colleagues have onboarded more than 100 new team members including loan officers, sales managers and support staff, expanding the Chicagoland Area from just a handful of employees.
In addition to being part of the Growth Team, Weis is responsible for personal loan production. Weis has a diverse client base, although he specializes in first-time homebuyers, taking the time to lead them through the transaction and answer all of their questions. “I help them feel comfortable and confident in their homebuying decision,” he says. “Buying your first home can be an intimidating process, so I aim to alleviate their concerns.” Additionally, Weis serves more experienced homebuyers as well as investors, condominium buyers, multi-unit buyers and clients renovating their current property.
“My team and I are very thorough in the early stages of the loan process,” he explains, adding that the head start contributes to an overall smoother experience. “We do a detailed financial analysis using proprietary software to ensure our client can make an informed decision about mortgage products, understand exactly how much money is needed for closing and what is expected from them throughout the process.”
Weis is known for his thoroughness and wealth of knowledge, and has been frequently tasked with rescuing loans from lenders who previously denied a client. And even when it’s a last-minute request, Weis ensures that they’ll make the deadline without compromising the level of personalized service.
Weis is a member of the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association, the Chicago Association of Realtors and the Mainstreet Association of Realtors, as well as a supporter of the American Warrior Initiative. In order to succeed, Weis looks to his kids and wife for inspiration and motivation.
