Sally Leoni, Realtor, Baird & Warner, Palatine

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was an agent with Baird & Warner part-time in the mid-’90s when I had two-year-old twins.

Where did you grow up? Kildeer/Long Grove area.

What is your favorite free-time activity? Boating.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Walk my dog through the hilly neighborhoods while listening to ‘80s music.

Growing up, what did you want to be? A different type of sales, or a reporter out in the field. I am a people-person, and thrive on crowds.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? John Travolta. He just seems real and likable.

What is your favorite place to hang out? Home.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I give personal attention to each and every client. They usually stick with me through thick and thin! This has definitely been a market to test those relationships.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Reporting negative feedback with care and respect to my sellers. They take each negative comment so personally when they should be learning what it will take to get the property sold from each and every feedback response.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? High school functions, mainly. My twins are going to be seniors this year.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Having a great reputation in working with relocation clients. I work well with high-end sellers and buyers, as I know this market as well as the lower-priced homes around my market.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Bridesmaids. Just a goofy laugh-out-loud, fun movie to not have to think about or be in a serious mood while watching!

What is your favorite restaurant? Bob Chinn’s Crab House.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago? Sears/Willis Tower, of course.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/ Blackberry app? Baird & Warner app.

What kind of car do you drive? Lexus SUV. I have lots of carpooling in my past!

Smartphone or Paper? Smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Chicago? Malibu.

What is your advice for someone new to the industry? Be prepared to invest money into your business to get it up and running. You have to network constantly to be a success.
