I remember my first year of college many many years ago when I had a big fat desktop that took up almost my entire desk. This was just when the Internet and websites were becoming popular amongst the common folks (yes, I am that old), and I created my own little page using fancy codes and other information I managed to dig up. In the end, I had a static page with a photo of myself and some rudimentary other details and colors. I was impressed with my work, and others were enamored by my skills on this new fangled Internet contraption.
As the years went by, the Internet and individual websites progressed by leaps and bounds, and I fell behind. While I may not be adept at creating websites anymore – even though the tools now are much easier to follow – nowadays, I can’t imagine getting through one day without using the Internet in some way. As the editor of CA, the Internet helps me find agents to feature in the magazine, and also keep me up to date on all the latest real estate news and information. While we can’t live without the Internet, at times it feels like there might be too much information out there, and too many tools for one person to ever keep up.
I’m sure as a Chicagoland Realtor you understand where I’m coming from. With a new social media or web tool out almost every day, there is a lot to keep tabs on. From our IYBs to our cover story, we’ve provided all the information you need to get going and stay on top of the latest technology.
I’m not afraid to admit that I am not tech savvy by any means. If you ask the computer experts in the office they will confirm that this isn’t my forte. But the Internet isn’t going anywhere but forward, so join me in committing to learn all we can, and take back the reigns of the Internet and make it work for us!
