The three attributes that best describe Shimmy Braun are honesty, efficency and consistency. With 17 years of experience in the industry, Braun has gotten his job down to a science, and as with any successful endeavor, its perfection took diligence. “My team and I really took the time to work out the kinks in our system,” he says of Guaranteed Rate, where he is the senior vice president of mortgage lending. “We shifted some roles, took some risks and it paid off.” Braun has ranked as a top 10 loan officer in the country by Scotsman Guide magazine and ranked as one of Guaranteed Rate’s Top Producers every year since 2008.

Braun serves clients in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs and has recently expanded into the Baltimore market where his family lives. Shimmy works primarily from referrals, helping customers at all levels including first-time homebuyers, investors, and those looking for high-end luxury properties. Having already crafted a strategy that keeps his clients happy, Braun continues to utilize the skills and methods he’s mastered through his years in the industry. He describes his and his team’s process as fluid and notes that their consistent commitment to honesty, integrity, as well as great rates and low fees are what drives their business.

Before entering real estate, Braun spent four years studying at rabbinical college in order to become a rabbi. Even though he shifted career paths, he’s still active within the Jewish community and has been honored by the Chicago Torah Network and the Chicago Community Kollel for his participation. He mostly finds meaning in his volunteer work with JQY, an organization that provides support to LGBTQ youth, and through the Guaranteed Rate Foundation, the company’s nonprofit.
