RE/MAX Ultimate Professionals
Lifelong Joliet resident Susie Scheuber knows today’s real estate market requires agents to be versatile. “You have to be an expert in all facets of this industry or you will not survive in this fast-paced profession,” says the 16-year veteran. Her numerous honors speak to her adaptability and expert knowledge. Scheuber is the 2015 No. 1 selling Realtor in Joliet, Plainfield, and Shorewood and has been named a top 20 Will County agent by Chicago Agent magazine every year since 2012. An annual Five Star Professional awardee since 2013, REAL Trends has also named her on its list of “Best Real Estate Agents in America” for the past four years. In addition, Scheuber was featured on the May 2016 cover of Top Agent magazine and is a member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame, recognized as a platinum RE/MAX Realtor.
Her previous decade-long career as an executive secretary strengthened Scheuber’s organizational abilities, but she began looking for a bigger challenge. “I was reading the newspaper one day when I came across an ad for real estate school and it hit me, ‘That’s what I’m going to do,’” she remembers. “I quit my job, got my license and never looked back!” Scheuber
has since continued to develop professionally, namely by earning designations as an Accredited Buyer’s Representative, Certified Relocation Specialist and Graduate, REALTOR Institute. She is also a member of the National Association of Realtors and Three Rivers Association of Realtors.
Scheuber describes her approach with her diverse portfolio of clients as simple yet effective. “There’s no formula, just honest communication,” she says. “I listen to their needs and offer candid feedback so their outlook is realistic. I treat them how I’d want to be treated.” She goes on to say every client and every transaction is unique, so being an effective problem solver requires establishing a true partnership that permits overcoming unexpected challenges. This philosophy is obviously working for her, as Scheuber currently has over 100 client reviews lauding her dedication. “Buying or selling a home is a significant life event, but I feel rewarded if I can make it easier and less stressful for people.”
A past Homes for Heroes donor who contributed a portion of each commission to the organization, Scheuber’s children inspire her. She strives to be their role model. “I raised them to work hard, but to love what they do, so that they’ll know they’ve achieved success.” After all, this is how she views her real estate career. “It’s the best feeling in the world to know I’ve had a hand in helping people make one of the most important decisions in their lives. That’s what brings me happiness.”
