Sharp is counted among the top five lenders in Illinois, and last year he exceeded more than $1 billion in career loan volume, with more than $160 million in loans originated in 2015 alone. His achievements have earned him membership in Guaranteed Rate’s elite Chairman’s Circle, an honor reserved for a select few. “I take time to create the absolute best experience for my clients and all parties involved in the transaction by ensuring clear communication and transparency from start to finish,” Sharp says. “Those are the cornerstones of any successful relationship.”

Sharp is driven by a desire to ensure clients’ satisfaction, and is propelled by the momentum of his company’s success. Sharp attributes much of his success to his outgoing personality and ability to connect with people. “You have to be able to listen to your clients and communicate effectively,” he says. “I’ve always loved people, and that shows in how I approach my work.” He also points out the importance of learning something from everyone he interacts with, including clients and colleagues. “Every interaction offers a chance to strengthen best practices and improve my business, so I consider each a teachable moment.”

He goes on to say the lending industry requires one to be adaptable and good with numbers. “Things can change, and you have to be able to remain calm, guide your clients through whatever arises and keep your eye on the bottom line to protect their best financial interest,” he says. “That’s what gives people confidence, knowing they’re in good hands. And when all’s said and done, that’s what matters most.”
