Michael Shenfeld
Real Estate Consultant
The Shenfeld Group, LLC / Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices KoenigRubloff
Michael Shenfeld is an industry leader admired by colleagues and clients across Chicagoland. Shenfeld is a KoenigRubloff Hall of Fame Agent and was recently honored with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ Chairman’s Circle Diamond Award for ranking among its top one-half of 1 percent of sales professionals. He consistently ranks among the Chicago Association of Realtors’ top 1 percent, earning annual recognition for sales volume and units closed for more than a decade. Of all of these accolades, his most cherished is the KoenigRubloff recognition his colleagues awarded him for his positive attitude, integrity, and professionalism. “I make certain to do the best I possibly can because my reputation is everything to me,” he says. “After all, you’re only as good as your last client’s experience.”
Shenfeld has possessed an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. Growing up on Chicago’s North Shore, at age twelve he got his first job as a movie rental associate. A year later, he was selling home audio equipment on commission. As a teenager he worked in retail and waited tables in a busy North Shore deli. After earning a degree from the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale on a full scholarship, Shenfeld opened a commercial photography studio in Chicago. He ventured into real estate in 2002, and the rest was history.
A Certified Negotiation Expert, Shenfeld’s business is entirely referral-based and includes first-time buyers, growing families, empty nesters, developers, investors, and returning clients. “I’m always available to my clients for all those things that come after buying or selling, whether they need a referral to a contractor or tax attorney, or recommendations to great restaurants. These are the resources my clients know they can count on me for, days or even years after we’ve left the closing table.” A devoted family man, Shenfeld’s daughters, ages 8 and 11, are often with Shenfeld and his wife, Lori, when he unexpectedly bumps into current and former clients in Chicago, which he calls “a big little city.”
Outside of work and family time, Shenfeld co-chairs the Josselyn Center’s golf committee, which raises funds for mental health and related services for children, adolescents and families. He is also a longtime St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital donor and co-sponsors a table at its extravaganza each year. “I believe in treating people the way I want to be treated,” he says. “I always want my clients to experience a seamless transaction when they’re working with me, no matter what obstacles there may be behind the scenes. This industry brings new opportunities and new challenges every day, and helping clients through them is extremely rewarding.”
