Flagstar Bank is a relatively new player in the Chicago housing market, but with its new offices in Chicago, Naperville and Vernon Hills, James Burke is looking to grow the bank’s operations with his team of talented originators and his “outside-the-box” approach to home financing.

An expert in working with everyone from first-time homebuyers to high-level executives, Burke began his mortgage career in a position that, with its emphasis on homebuilding and construction-permanent financing, perfected his skills in communication.

“I have honed my skills over the years by learning as much as I could about other people’s business, and taking the time to learn what they needed from

a lender and then exceeding their expectations,” Burke says. “I have a great relationship with my Realtor and builder contacts, and collectively, we share ideas, trends and learn from each other.”

“I love being a branch manager, as I have the opportunity to help mentor other loan officers,” Burke adds. “Starting off in the industry, I had great mentors, and being able to offer the same kind of support is very rewarding.”

Burke also strives to show support to clients, educate them about the industry and process, and help them with whatever they may need.

“There are many different ways to structure a deal,” Burke says. “By having the knowledge, and most importantly, taking the time to learn about the client and what their goals are, you can truly help your clients.”
