Ginger Downs
Chief Executive Officer
Chicago Association of Realtors
Ginger Downs has led the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR) towards a new era of prosperity. From her superior skills in organizing and strategic and business planning, to her abilities in hiring and mentoring staff and developing leadership, her focus is on a strong future for the organization.
Involved in association management since 1983, Downs has developed her unique skill set through keeping her hand on the pulse of the industry and planning for the next best thing.
“I personally stay connected with our members, staff and my colleagues at the local, state and national levels,” Downs says. “I love technology and am adept at social media. By staying engaged with the latest thinking and through one-on-one relationships, I can provide service that’s in tune with current and evolving needs of Realtors.”
And like many other members of CAR’s leadership, Downs is heavily invested in community service. One recent initiative of which she is most proud is the CAR Education Foundation’s Zeke Morris Scholarship Fund, which earmarks dollars for individuals promoting or planning to promote stabilization and development in Auburn Gresham, Austin, Bronzeville, Englewood, Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, South Shore and Woodlawn. Downs is also a longtime advocate and member of the board of directors of All Chicago, a collaborative partnership between the Chicago Alliance, the Emergency Fund and the Learning Center that strives to end homelessness in Chicago.
“I am proud of my personal and professional engagement with the greater Chicagoland community,” Downs says.
