Agents, Apps and Technology

by Chicago Agent

Agents understand the use of technology and how it affects their business today – 46 percent of agents use an app daily to help them in their business in some way. However, 24 percent of agents never use apps day-to-day. These agents don’t know what they’re missing out on – lots of apps help agents to streamline their business (see our cover story on page 14)!

In terms of social media technology, agents we surveyed are seeing results: 22 percent of agents received more referrals, 21 percent saw an increase in traffic to their website and another 21 percent were able to have more networking opportunities through social media platforms and apps. But still, 40 percent of agents don’t monitor Web traffic or other numbers with Google Analytics.

“I use my iPad like a clipboard; it helps me to be organized on the go. I don’t use the search apps, but I refer clients to them. I’m trying to change my MO and using Docs to Go – my goal is to download the listings, photos, tax reports and listing history for all the units I’m showing so I’ve got it all at my fingertips without having to login to anything or having to carry a portfolio of paper. It’s not my routine yet, but when I’ve done it it has been helpful. It’s hit and miss to find the best way to go about it what to use – I’m still working on it!” Sara McMurray, Coldwell Banker, Chicago

“Using apps for my real estate business has not really been that important to me, although I understand the importance of them in today’s environment.” Aldrin Mayen, Charles Rutenberg Realty, Naperville
