Managing Broker | Owner
Chicago Realty & Asset Management, Inc.

Call it luck, intuition or common sense, but a few years after entering the industry in 2003, La Shandria Sanderson made a savvy career move.

“I was focused on traditional sales,” she says, “and I realized I should gain knowledge in a niche that could survive a sudden change in the economy.”

And that’s how Sanderson, the managing broker and owner of Chicago Realty & Asset Management Inc., came to specialize in the disposition of corporate assets right as the market plummeted and financial institutions found themselves holding large portfolios they needed to sell.

Serving her niche in the years since has taken her all over the city, which she truly enjoys. “I am always in different neighborhoods experiencing diverse cultures and lifestyles,” Sanderson says. “I am fascinated with how it can change from block to block.”

Sanderson’s method relies on constant communication, customized service and creative use of visualization technology; if a client can’t physically walk through a property, she develops a virtual walk- through and simulated experience of spending a day in the space. Sanderson also takes pride in continuing to gain knowledge by staying abreast of industry trends by being a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors and the National Association of Women Business Owners. “There is always room for enhancement to be gained in any craft by networking with colleagues,” she says.

Her consistent personalized service helped her rank in the Chicago Association of Realtors’ top 1 percent, and she has attained top producer status from 2010 to 2013. She attributes some of her success to being able to squeeze life lessons out of challenging situations that arise from day to day. But the crash has taught her not to “get too high with the highs or too low with the lows,” she says.
