Recruiting Excellence

by Stephanie Sims

Stephanie Sims, Editor

Great managing brokers keep agents focused, keep a healthy and upbeat work environment and are continually growing and evolving to stay ahead of the curve.

In this issue, we found that managing brokers look for agents who have a strong work ethic, and are hard-working with strong market knowledge and good experience. But recruiting is only part of the equation when it comes to maintaining a successful brokerage. The other part? Retaining those top agents that were recruited, and keeping them happy.

The managing brokers interviewed in our cover story all agree. Cathie Tardy with Baird & Warner, pictured on our cover, has created an encouraging environment for her agents – many have worked for her for more than 20 years. She hires people who are go-getters, who want to have their own successful business, and from there, creates an environment where her agents can thrive. That way, retention is easy – Tardy’s agents want to keep working for her, and will also spread the word of how happy they are, thus, attracting even more agents.

In case you are still wondering what qualities make you an attractive agent to managing brokers, David Wolf, president and managing broker of Related Realty, lists three ways you can make yourself an in-demand agent. Read everything starting on page 15, and as always, email me and let me know what you think of this issue: stephanie@chicago.staging312.com.
