The process of purchasing her first home in 1999 immediately piqued Sharri Ptak’s interest and she was determined to learn all about obtaining home loans; from beginning to end. “I was absolutely captivated by each and every step and wanted to know everything about it,” Ptak remembers. “I ended up leaving my corporate job in marketing to do mortgages and I’ve never looked back.”
In the industry for 25 years, Ptak is VP of mortgage lending with Proper Rate specializing in home financing for residential mortgages including conventional, FHA, VA and Jumbo loans. “I love working with all types of clients, but first-time buyers are my favorite because I have a strong training background and love educating them throughout the process,” she shares. “I’m proud to say that most of my clients are referred to me by past clients, Realtor referrals and financial advisors.” While her team enjoys having fun while ensuring mortgages go as smoothly as possible, they make it a priority to treat clients like family by staying in constant communication with them throughout the entire transaction.
Chicago Agent Magazine named Ptak Social Media Influencer of the Year in 2023 which was a result of stepping outside of her comfort zone and finding new ways to inform people about mortgages. “I work super hard trying to educate potential buyers and my Realtor partners by posting on social media through @sharriptak,” she admits. “It’s a great way to share my passion for helping people buy a home.” She also uses a mobile app designed by Guaranteed Rate, called PowerVP that gives her 24/7 access to home loan information, helping Realtors and clients make strong offers and buy their dream home.
An avid pickleball player, Ptak enjoys playing with friends and family and an occasional tournament. She also enjoys her women’s golf league. She grew up in the Chicagoland area and currently lives in Elmhurst with her husband, their son, who attends the University of Mississippi, their daughter, who is on the varsity competitive dance team at York Community High School, and their family dog.
