When buying or selling a home, a certain confidence comes from working with an agent who truly knows the neighborhood because they are deeply involved in it, not only professionally but also personally. That’s what clients find with Amy Avakian, a specialist in the western suburbs who grew up in Hinsdale and is now raising her family in Western Springs.
“I reside and specialize in the western suburbs because I really do think it’s the best place to live in the Chicagoland area,” Avakian shares. “I love helping my friends and neighbors find their next home and welcoming new families into the area.” The certified relocation expert focuses on fully understanding her clients’ goals and motivations, whether their priority is timing, home size, price, school district, or all of the above.
A 20-year veteran of Chicagoland real estate, Avakian began her career in the intense financial industry. Selling convertible bonds for more than a decade strengthened her business acumen and built her formidable negotiation skills. “I’m a tough negotiator but always try to keep things moving in a positive direction,” she says. “Honesty, kindness and a few laughs are important pieces of the puzzle with clients and other agents to help get deals done.”
In 2023, Berkshire Hathaway awarded Avakian its Chairman’s Circle Gold designation as one of the top 3 percent in her network. Clients describe her as direct and honest, and they say they appreciate her local knowledge and insight as a longtime western suburbs resident. “Having experienced local schools as a student and a parent and having participated in the community as a child and an adult, I can really speak to the trends and culture of the area,” she confirms.
In addition to being involved in the community, her children’s activities, the local school districts and local charities, Avakian enjoys staying active with tennis, paddleball, and pickleball. She is a member of the Western Springs Business Association and is a board trustee for the Village of Western Springs.
