Amy Duong Kim
Vice President, Sales
Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty
Amy Duong Kim knows how to capitalize on her past experience in her real estate career. “My actuarial degree and my previous employment provided me with a unique perspective that very few Realtors have. I know I analyze price and the real estate market differently from most Realtors, giving my clients unique insights,” the Jameson Sotheby’s Vice President of Sales says. Kim and her team have closed more than $200 million and 350 transactions.
Kim went to University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign for actuarial science. After working as an actuarial analyst at a consulting company for three years, she joined her family’s boutique brokerage. “I wanted to have flexibility in my schedule,” she says. “I also wanted to have freedom in my career growth. In corporate America, I felt I would have always relied on someone else’s opinion of me to excel, and I didn’t want that. I love that if I work hard and exceed my clients’ expectations, my career would grow.” She joined Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty in 2013.
Kim’s clients include first-time homebuyers and upgraders, Chicagoans moving to the west suburbs and international investors. “I had moved to Hinsdale four years ago. In doing so, my business slowly grew to include the suburbs. In addition, my Sotheby’s network has expanded my reach internationally,” she says.
A thorough knowledge of real estate and dedication to her clients helps Kim stand out. She’s been a Chicago Association of Realtors Top Producer for the past six years, and earned the Huzenis Award from Jameson Sotheby’s. Kim and her team, which includes her husband, are consistently recognized for their strong work ethic, warmth, quality support and service. “I do think team systems are very important and I do think we’ve successfully implemented a team system that works for us. The main thing is that we are always willing to learn from each other and grow together and individually,” she says.
In Kim’s free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and volunteering with HCS Family Services. She credits careful time management for achieving work-life balance.
