
What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I worked for the city of Chicago as a project coordinator for the mayor’s Plan to End Homelessness.
Where did you grow up?
The South Side of Chicago.
Growing up, what did you want to be?
I wanted to be a pediatrician. I actually went to medical school for one year before withdrawing from classes and getting a job in social services.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
I would love to meet Michelle Obama. I feel like she epitomizes my ideal of a working mom and wife who has a great sense of who she is as a person.
What is Chicago’s best-kept secret?
The hole-in-the-wall neighborhood restaurants. They have the best authentic foods from various cultures.
What do you love most about the industry?
I love that there are so many different ways to enter and participate in the real estate industry (sales, investors, residential specialists, commercial, etc.).
What has been your greatest accomplishment?
Being appointed to the Mainstreet board of directors. I value the role of the association and consider it an honor to represent my fellow Realtors.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago?
My favorite building is a Chicago bungalow. It’s unique to our city and gives me warm fuzzies. It reminds me of my grandparents, who were one of the first Black families to integrate Loomis Boulevard in Auburn Gresham. It was also the first home that I owned.
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I think that people are surprised to learn that I’m not just a city girl, I’m a little country at heart. I used to spend my summers in Alabama with my grandmother.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Never stop learning new skills and techniques to market yourself.
What’s your favorite meal in Chicago?
Four wings with salt, pepper and BBQ sauce from Harold’s Chicken.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I make sure that I keep the client at the forefront of what I do. Their experience is important to me. I also value the relationship.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Working with others who do not have the same level of professionalism and respect for the business.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Stay in front of your sphere. Treat every client like they are your most important client, and they will help you generate new leads.
What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
My favorite app right now is ChatGPT. It is absolutely amazing!!!
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I binge-watch TV shows that have multiple episodes.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I’m rewatching “The Wire.”
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
My favorite vacation spot is Hawaii. The beaches are beautiful and all of the islands have a different feel and flavor.
