Veronica Tabb Realtor, Broker and Owner

Opulent Vision Real Estate Group powered by Coldwell Banker Realty

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I was actually a dual-career agent working in hospitality management for a mid-priced long-term-stay hotel chain. Every day was unpredictable! Met people from all over the country and world.

Where did you grow up?
South Side of Chicago born and raised! Bronzeville and Rosemoor.

Growing up, what did you want to be?
I wanted to be an ice skater, the president (glad that thought came and went), a fashion designer and a real estate agent.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Weather permitting, walking on the lakefront, watching one of my favorite TV shows/movies or lighting my favorite candles.

If you could meet any well-known figure, who would it be?
Kobe Bryant, rest in peace. His drive was unmatched! This is Chicago, and we love Jordan (there would be no Kobe without Mike), but Mamba mentality is another level.

What is Chicago’s best-kept secret?
The Aura Candle Bar in Lakeview. You get to make your own candles, and it’s a relaxing vibe. Perfect going solo, with friends or date night.

What do you love most about the industry?
Meeting and working with new people, as well as helping my clients reach their real estate goals. Learning their story and building the bonds as we both grow through the transaction.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I am constantly educating myself so I can better educate my clients. Also, I put my clients in position to not only own real estate, but also educate them on the importance of estate planning to maintain their assets and lead to generational wealth.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
When people are non-responsive or not expedient in responding while trying to conduct business. This can happen at any stage of the transaction, and you have to adjust so you can assure your client to not go into panic mode.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Work your sphere of influence and market yourself! Over 60% of my business has come direct from my sphere. Don’t be a secret agent, especially with the people who know you!

What has been your greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is becoming a real estate agent! It was a dream realized that was put on the back burner for 17 years. I knew when I was 17 I wanted to get into real estate. I even wrote about it in an acceptance speech for a college scholarship I received my senior year of high school. Life will bring you full circle.

What’s your favorite meal in Chicago?
My favorite meal in Chicago is a medium filet mignon, mashed potatoes with chives and brussel sprouts from Gibson’s steakhouse.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Chicago?
It’s not Chicago without the Sears Tower (Willis Tower for those who honor the name change)!

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I am actually an ordained minister.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The people were super nice, there was always something to do; zip lining, catamaran party, atv rides to name a few. Plus I came back home speaking Spanglish!

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! It’s a leaning experience.
