Not your average mortgage

by Agent X

Here we are at our fall mortgage issue. Ho-hum, right? Well, this time we’re focusing on working with “non-traditional” couples and atypical borrowers. Non-traditional will be on my headstone and atypical is my middle name, so this is right up my alley! Say goodbye to those cookie-cutter deals, because those are a thing of the past. Speaking of which, is it Girl Scout cookie season yet?

Wayne Kouf of @properties announced his retirement via Facebook with a pretty boss video of himself riding around on a motorcycle in leather pants. His lifelong dream has been to travel the country on his hog (is that the right term? I’ve never been on a motorcycle in my life.) Congrats, Wayne, and safe travels while you’re living the dream.

The Matt Laricy Group promised to share a vlog episode with Mr. Matt Laricy himself crying, but it must have been click bait because I failed to see any tears fall out of those dreamy baby blues. Also, CarMarc Realty is expanding! They’ve added Melissa Lloyd, Ryan Stuckey and Lourdes Heiy to their stacked roster. Maybe they should think about changing the name to CarMarcMelRyLou in honor of the new blood.

Dust off your tuxes and gowns: Lots of balls and galas to round out the month. On Sept. 19, IAR held their inaugural ball at the Chicago Marriott Naperville. According to the invite, live entertainment was provided by Martini Lunch. I know I’m pretty entertaining after a martini lunch, so that makes perfect sense. The next day, some of us headed over to North Clybourn Group to celebrate their 30th anniversary. Turns out the gift for 30 years is pearls, so I ordered a bunch of oysters to be sent to their office. The CAR Gala on Sept. 26 at the Hilton Chicago on Michigan Ave. was black-tie optional (which means you better where a black tie) and didn’t disappoint in the glitz and glamour department. Admission included dinner, wine, cocktails, an afterparty and “other event experiences.” I am still not sure what those experiences were, but that may be due to the aforementioned wine and cocktails.

The 15th annual DLA Piper Global Real Estate Summit had a roster of all-star speakers to address a crowd of the “best minds in real estate” on Sept. 24. If this is the first you are hearing about this, it may be because it’s an exclusive, invitation-only event. For the longest time I kept reading DLA Piper as Diaper on the invite. And now that I’ve shared this nugget, there goes my invitation for next year.

I refuse to acknowledge fall, so you’ll have to wait until next issue for autumnal birthday shout-outs. Let’s stick to the facts: Natalie Carpenter and Deborah DoBoer celebrate on the Oct. 1 and 2, while Elizabeth Goodchild and Simon Stein can share their Oct. 3 birthdays with German Llanos, Michael Walsh and Leslie McDonnell on Oct. 4. Sharbel Shamoon and Stephanie LoVerde both celebrate on Oct. 6, while Nicole Hajdu gets to party on lucky number seven. Ryan D’Aprile will get wiser on Oct. 8, while Liane Luckett (not to be confused with LeeAnne Locken for all you Bravo fans) will get a toast in her honor on Oct. 10. Beth Wexler celebrates on Oct. 11 while Josh Lipton will sip a cup of warm tea on his Oct. 13 birthday ($10 says I’ve used that joke on him at least twice over the years).
