I’m not afraid to admit that I’ve made some mistakes in the past. Some of which have to do with the outfits I’ve worn, generally around the mid-80’s. However, I blame the style of the time. I bet you’re thinking I’m going to say that in my career I’ve never made mistakes. I’m such a confident, successful agent that I’d pretend like I’ve been perfect since emerging from the womb. While in some ways that’s entirely true, when it comes to my career I did have some stumbles in the beginning. One huge gaffe involved an international client, a capuchin monkey, a diamond necklace, a local celebrity, and a two-flat in Bucktown. Sorry, that’s all I can reveal, but I certainly learned my lesson after that whopper.
Speaking of celebrities, Tommy Choi was recently spotted hanging out with Adrian Grenier. Perhaps Tommy is trying to audition to be another member of the entourage? We’ll keep our eye on that one.
CA just completed the photo shoots for the upcoming Who’s Who in real estate issue, and let me tell you we have some divas out there. There were all sorts of crazy requests for these pics, which as a reminder are supposed to be tasteful, professional shoots. Some out-of-the-box suggestions included props, children, Batman suits, shots of tequila, a Ferrari and a hot air balloon. Okay, I may have exaggerated on some of those, but not all of them. And this is a fact: one woman almost passed out during her shoot, but word is her photos turned out great anyway. You only have to wait until July 13th to see who made the list, and, more importantly, how everyone looks.
@properties landed on Crain’s Chicago Business’ Fast 50 list for the fourth time. Due to some growth and expansion all the way into Southwest Michigan, @ is growing like a weed throughout the area. Landing at No. 43 this year, they’re the only for-sale residential real estate brokerage firm to make the list. Perhaps Thad and Mike should consider making an appearance in the next “Fast and Furious” movie? It’s the natural progression.
Sean Conlon of Conlon & Co and Matt Moore of Chicago Cut sent a heartfelt message to their Irish homeland in the Chicago Tribune in praise of the “yes” vote on the marriage referendum. I have nothing snarky to say about this, because it’s a classy move and I’d like to applaud Sean and Matt. And congrats to all the happy couples in Ireland who will be able to take advantage of this new referendum! I’m great at parties, so I’ll just wait patiently for my invites to arrive in the mail.
Speaking of parties! Select folks were treated to a preview party at 1615 Burling, where we got a glimpse at the collection of 15 luxury residences located in the heart of Lincoln Park. The location is not open to the everyday shlubs of the public, which made it that much more enjoyable. Karen Ranquist and Danielle Dowell were involved with the planning, and you know what that means.
@properties took some time off from growing to join forces with Guaranteed Rate to celebrate the start of summer on Guaranteed Rate’s faboo rooftop. There was a bags tournament and a raffle for tickets to a Chicago architectural boat tour. Naturally, there were also a lot of adult beverages.
Happy belated birthday to Jody Kelly, who celebrated her big day on June 11. Dave Hanna and Mabel Guzman will both drink to another year on June 17, Ginna Ryan will enjoy some birthday cake on June 18 and Jennifer Leong will sip some champagne for her special day on June 19. And don’t forget to wish David Valley a very happy birthday on June 21.
