Where, in Chicago’s vast urban landscape, were home sales the highest?
Last week, we reported on the top-selling suburban communities in Chicagoland, and now, courtesy of the same exclusive monthly data from our friends at Redfin, we’re back to look at the city’s neighborhoods.
First, here is a graph that looks at total home sales across the city:
As usual, the Near North Side was far ahead of the pack, nearly doubling the sales of second-place Lincoln Park.
When we isolate the numbers for single-family home sales, though, the situation changes radically:
Ashburn, which was the No. 7 selling community for total sales, is easily the top-selling in the single-family sphere, with 81 percent more sales than second-place Garfield Park.
And when we focus on condos and townhomes, the numbers change even further:
Unsurprisingly, the Near North Side sits comfortably atop, though the Near West Side vaults ahead of Lincoln Park, which was the No. 2 overall market in the city.
Since River North is part of the Near North Side, what are the definitions of these areas?
