At its 94th Annual Awards & Installation Celebration, the North Shore – Barrington Association of Realtors (NSBAR) ushered its 2013-14 board of directors into office.
The gathering, recently held at the Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, drew in a crowd of more than 130 people. A highlight of the ceremony came when Realtor Lynn Madison, of Lynn Madison Seminars, installed the new executive officers.
Realtor Jim Votanek, of Baird & Warner, was elected as president for the 2013-14 term. Votanek, in his remarks to the audience, said despite NSBAR’s unwavering membership, the organization needs to unleash itself from an outdated plan and adjust to the current marketplace.
“One of our first actions this year is to develop a new strategic plan, which will poise NSBAR to be more responsive, and better adapted, to the current needs of our REALTORS,” Votanek said. “Our members do business beyond the North-Shore Barrington area. It is my hope that we continue to build relationships with our colleagues across the region to better serve not just our association but the industry at large.”
The new installations also includePresident-Elect Wayne Paprocki, of Troy Realty, Ltd., and Secretary-Treasurer Michelle Shoemaker, of RE/MAX Villager. The following industry professionals complete the revamped board of directors: Donald Gelfund, RE/MAX Villager; Judy Gibbons, Hunter’s Fairway Sotheby’s; Marilyn Glazer, owner of Marilyn D. Glazer; Mark Pasquesi, Prudential Rubloff; Jamie Roth, Coldwell Banker; Daniel Schermerhorn, president of Schermerhorn & Co.; and Martin Walsh, @properties.
The awards portion of the ceremony named Keith Hancock, of RE/MAX Villager, Realtor of the Year. The Affiliate of the Year award was given to Carol Merz, of the Chicago Title Company. Industry newcomer Diana Karouzos was awarded Rookie of the Year, and Kris Keller, of the National Realty Network, was recognized as Humanitarian of the Year.
The NSBAR also honored six brokers with 40 consecutive years of membership.
