I think the iPhone is just cool. There may be other handheld devices that perform more functions, but for pure fun in surfing the Web, the iPhone is it. Not to mention that it’s a great conversation piece that can help break the ice and initiate some professional networking. Sometimes you just need something that makes you feel “in” and helps get you out of the office.

A BlackBerry is still the dominant tool for selling real estate. Instant communication is essential in this market whether it be with your client, other agents or your broker. As the iPhone continues to improve e-mail functionality, I suspect it will give the BlackBerry more competition. Being able to read documents on the go is a great tool.

The best tech tool is my Windows mobile phone. I can get a contract on it, make changes and send it back out all through the phone. It has GPS capabilities so you can map your route to the next listing or your next meeting. Using Windows Live software, you can find the closest Starbucks to write a contract with your clients or the closest dry cleaners, grocery store or gas station. With the large storage card on the device, I can store current deal documents and if someone needs one at a moment’s notice I can easily send it off. I just could not live without it!

Anyone in the real estate field is a multi-tasker. The must-have 2008 tech tool is a BlackBerry or any multi-functional phone device. One device with e-mail, Internet, a calendar, palm, text, a recorder for voice notes, a camera, a calculator – these are all the things we need and use on a daily basis. Does it get any better?
