Since every story in this issue is about going green, I wanted my headline to follow suit. Thankfully, no one used the above phrase, so it was free for the taking. I guess it doesn’t really work in other articles because we want to say that being green is easy, but I like to quote Kermy any time I can.
I’m assuming by this time you’ve had your fill of green information, since art director Kevin always shoves me in the back of the issue. So let’s just get to the good clean gossip fun. But first, a few more green clichés for you: green with envy, green as grass and my personal favorite care of westegg.com/cliche – the pot calling the grass green. I have no idea what that means so let’s move on.
Some moving and shaking went on this week as United Home Loans named Chris Knapp, formerly with Lakeshore Funding, vice president. Also, Laura Ellis, formerly senior vice-president of residential sales at Baird & Warner, was promoted to general sales manager. Raise your glass next time you see her.
Summertime equals party time for Agent X, and there were lots of opportunities these past two weeks. Camelot Realty hosted a Broker Open BBQ at Washtenaw on the Park. Most of the burgers went untouched, but the margaritas didn’t seem to have a problem disappearing.
July 17 was a doozy, but the CA staff is full of troopers. REIA started out the morning with a senior housing talk, and Agent X was pleased to see many top developers feverishly taking notes. MCL unveiled their ParkView models with an abundance of wine, R.E. Connect was packed as usual and Mike Vesole managed to summon the perfect moon for his rooftop party at Baer Lofts.
P3 New Media’s product launch has been pushed back another month and is expected to start up the end of August, rather than July 31, Agent X is learning to be patient.
Keller Williams Gold Coast’s rescheduled Opening of the Terrace at the Peninsula had plenty of sunshine this time around, along with a surprise appearance by the famous Annie Leibowitz. Agent X never had a problem with those Miley Cyrus pictures, for the record.
A Cubs rooftop party at Beyond the Ivy was held on July 10 for a ton of different real estate industry folks. With three floors of access, they had plenty of room to enjoy the beer, brats and burgers. I still blame Bob Dickinson for Ted Lilly’s implosion in that 7-12 loss to the Reds.
Lexington Park’s Chieftain Group out of Ireland is planning on building two 25-story towers with residences and hotel rooms in the South Loop. Ireland seems to be taking over Chicago! Keep an eye out for Chieftain at Chicago Agent’s New Construction Collection on Sept. 10.
Running out of space again. I need to learn to mince my words. Birthdays: Sara Schorn on July 17, Erica Ckuj on July 18, Joe McBreen turned 21 again on July 19, Joseph Licari, Michael Niemiec and Justin Brown on July 21, Julie Maimed, Eric Brightfield and Beth Ryan all partied on July 22.
Stay tuned and stay green.
