With gas prices at an all-time high and prices in the Chicagoland area among the highest in the nation, homebuyers are beginning to give serious consideration to not only where they live, but also how close their homes are to public transportation or other mass transit sources. Builders are working to deliver real transportation alternatives to their customers, and it’s called “Transit Oriented Development,” or TOD.

Residential Homes of America (RHA) has created a TOD in north suburban Grayslake that embodies the new concept linking where someone lives to how they get to work. Living at RHA’s Alleghany Trail at Village Station townhome community means a quick walk to the Lake Street Metra station for trips to downtown Chicago or other suburbs. RHA is selling the final phase of 72 luxury, courtyard-style townhomes at Alleghany Trail.

Buyers can choose from four different floor plans at Alleghany Trail, each design a courtyard style townhome sized from 1,471 to 1,944 square feet. The plans include two to three bedrooms, two-and-one-half baths, lofts, finished lower levels with bonus rooms, private balconies or decks, and attached rear-loading two-car garages.

Two of the layouts are offered as end-unit designs, one home highlighting two separate master suites, each with a full bath and walk-in closet.

Alleghany Trail’s landscape features walking trails, a pond and a two-acre neighborhood park with gazebo. There also are 45 acres of park district property adjacent to the community, which has been planned to include sports fields and other attractions.
