Big Pine Lake, a new resort-style development in Buchanan, Mich., is planned on 240 acres surrounding a 35-acre spring-fed lake east of Michigan’s Harbor Country. Pre-construction offerings in Phase I of Big Pine Lake will showcase 29 homes with prices ranging from under $300,000 to the low-$500,000s.
Floor plans at Big Pine Lake call for multiple designs including a one-bedroom-plus-loft with one bathroom; two bedrooms with two baths; three bedrooms with two baths; three bedrooms with three baths, and four bedrooms with two or three baths. The homes will have from 810 to 1,700 square feet of space.
Site work on the multiple-phase project of single-family homes is set to begin this month with construction on three model homes slated to begin in July. The model homes are scheduled for completion in autumn.
Homeowners at Big Pine Lake will have plenty of amenities in addition to the abundance of entertainment and recreational opportunities in Harbor Country including a clubhouse with a pool and separate kid’s pool, a beach, walking trails and a multi-purpose barn. The community will also have activities for residents such as wine-tasting events with local vineyards and arts and crafts classes for kids.
Big Pine Lake will feature canoes, paddle boats and rowboats for residents to take out on the lake. Motorized boats will not be allowed in order to preserve the tranquility of the lake. Other plans call for a general store at the entrance to the property, a farmer’s market, outdoor concert area and a working mill called Pear Farm. Outdoor movies also will be shown throughout the summer at the clubhouse.
Harbor Country’s other attractions include beaches, Lake Michigan, bicycle trails, vineyards, orchards and many antique shops and restaurants.
