Sales are underway at The St. Clair at CityFront Plaza, a 41-story luxury condominium development planned at 200 E. Illinois, a half-block east of Michigan Avenue’s “Magnificent Mile” in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood.

The 253-unit St. Clair is the second phase of CityFront Plaza, a three-tower, $700-million luxury condominium development now underway on a full city block. Overlooking the Chicago River to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, Michigan Avenue to the west and Lake Shore Drive to the north, the development sits on a nearly private upper Illinois Street cul-de-sac.

The 253-unit St. Clair will include 46 professionally furnished and decorated “In-Town Suites,” which are pied-a-terre homes with defined spaces for living and dining, sleeping, plus a European kitchen area and a full bath. The In-Town Suites are located on floors 13 through 35 at The St. Clair.

Architects DeStefano + Partners designed the St. Clair in international contemporary style. Construction is slated to begin in early-2008, with initial residences scheduled for occupancy in 2009.

The building also offers the St. Clair Club, a private owners retreat that features a private parlor, a furnished great room with a fireplace and a secluded terrace and offers a continental breakfast each morning.

Plans for The St. Clair call for an indoor lap pool, fitness center with sauna and locker rooms, yoga studio, business center and a private theater. There also will be 10,000 square feet of retail space and 227 parking spaces. Additionally, the St. Clair will include a 24-hour doorman and concierge-style services.

Kitchens at The St. Clair will showcase granite countertops and stainless-steel or paneled built-in appliances such as Bertazzoni gas ranges, Bosch dishwashers and Liebherr refrigerators.

Other features include wood flooring throughout the living/dining areas, entryways, kitchens, dens and in the bedrooms. Residences at The St. Clair at CityFront Plaza feature 10-foot ceilings in most untis and 11 to 12 feet in the penthouses.

The first phase of CityFront Plaza is The Fairbanks, a 31-story condominium tower featuring 281 condominiums and lofts. Plans for Phase III of CityFront Plaza call for a 65-story condominium tower featuring a world-class spa and 150-room boutique hotel.

Condominium prices start in the upper-$300,000 bracket for one-bedroom residences and range upwards of $3 million for penthouses.

The retail phase of the CityFront Plaza development features a Dominick’s Lifestyle grocery store on the lower level of the site, dry cleaners, a Chase Bank branch, a 150-car parking garage and a Starbucks complete with fireplace seating.

When completed, CityFront Plaza also will feature outdoor swimming pools, 100,000 square feet of restaurant and spa facilities, and indoor parking for 1,300 cars.
