Bridgeport Commons

by Chicago Agent

Bridgeport, Chicago

Embracing the historical character of one of Chicago’s most traditional South Side neighborhoods, Bridgeport Commons is a new community of 21 single-family homes being built by Ranquist Development.

“Echoing the Arts & Crafts style with brick and limestone exteriors, wood and stucco detailing, and reflecting the same quality craftsmanship, the homes of Bridgeport Commons bring Old World Chicago and modern convenience and sensibility together,” says Karen Ranquist, sales manager for the company.

The homes are on 30-foot lots and contain four to five bedrooms, three-and-one-half bathrooms and two-car garages. Each home will include nine- and 10-foot ceilings, oak hardwood flooring, a carriage-style wood entry and garage doors and professionally landscaped yards with wooden decks (per plan). Many homes have architectural bay windows, and cathedral/vaulted ceilings and woodburning fireplaces are optional.

“Each home has a unique façade, yet they all complement each other, blending into a new streetscape,” says Ranquist.

Modern touches to the homes include stainless steel appliances, Canac cabinets, granite countertops and designer lighting in the kitchens; 12- X 12-foot ceramic tile and cultured marble countertops in the bathrooms; pre-wiring for home technologies; and security systems.

Bridgeport is home to the Chicago White Sox and five of the city’s 45 mayors past and present, including both Mayor Daleys. Today, the neighborhood is a cosmopolitan mix of many ethnic groups, including Irish, Polish, Italian, German, Lithuanian, African-American, Mexican-American and Asian-American, all of which are well represented by local restaurants and shops.

Located just three miles southwest of the Loop, destinations such as Millennium Park, the Magnificent Mile, shopping, business and financial districts, museums, Navy Pier, Lake Michigan, Soldier Field, Chinatown, Little Italy, University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago and Illinois Institute of Technology are all minutes away. Midway Airport is also only seven miles away, and O’Hare International Airport is an easy 45-minute trip from Bridgeport.
