After 21 years in the financial industry, there isn’t much Mike Nielsen hasn’t seen. He refers to himself as “seasoned” and says his experience provides an advantage. He knows how to problem-solve and get the job done.
Having studied banking and finance at Purdue University, Nielsen started his career at Wells Fargo. When an opening became available, he transitioned to the mortgage side of lending. Today, he’s senior vice president of mortgage lending at Origin Point, where he specializes in first-time homebuyers, mortgage refinancing and jumbo loans. He calls his team among the top processors at Origin Point and says that knowing clients are in great hands throughout the entire process helps keep him focused.
Nielsen has worked over the years to cultivate relationships with Realtors and build a solid foundation for referrals. He encourages new clients to ask questions and speak their minds if there is a concern. He also informs new clients about what to expect during the process and stays in constant communication with clients and agents alike. “I like to be an advisor to my clients by being as informative as possible without being a pushy salesperson,” he explains. “Past clients say I’m goal-oriented, honest and transparent. I know that speed and service, coupled with the lowest rate and fees, are what is best for my clients.”
Nielsen has won multiple awards. He became a member of his company’s President’s Club in 2006, having closed on more than $30 million in funded loans. He’s received this designation every year since, concurrently receiving Chairman’s Club six times — meaning he funded more than $100 million in volume. Mortgage Executive Magazine named him among the top 1% of mortgage originators operating in the United States six times, and he also started a North Shore chapter of Business Network International.
