Social-media savvy, driven, and energetic, Oana Sirbu is the kind of person clients love to work with. Carving her own path at Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty and going solo within the past years has propelled her business, garnering rave reviews and making her the official real estate representative of the Chicago Fire soccer team.
Prior to moving to Chicago, Sirbu traveled and lived in many countries from Ukraine to Saudi Arabia. She speaks several languages, which helps her better serve the diverse downtown community. “Understanding cultural norms and expectations are critical to maintaining a relationship and getting a deal done,” she says.
Sirbu’s focus has always been the luxury market. She works with clients all over the world looking to move or invest in downtown Chicago. A member of the community herself, she has the advantage of being able to share valuable insights with clients based on her own experiences living and working in Lakeshore East.
“Last year was a record year for the Chicago luxury residential market. Not surprisingly. This city is still affordable and is one of the finest real estate investment opportunities in the country,” she says. “With travel restrictions lifted, I expect this trend to continue. We should see more foreign capital, including institutional investors, like banks and sovereign funds.”
As a professional marketer with a master’s degree in marketing and management, Sirbu rarely has to rely on ads and sales tactics to create business—most of her business comes from word-of-mouth. The secret to repeat business and referrals? Sirbu treats every transaction as her own, listening carefully and checking all the boxes. “My clients understand my expertise and knowledge, not just in the market but in understanding their unique needs and situations,” she says. “You don’t have to be a luxury buyer to get the luxury treatment from me!”
