Maya Puentes, Broker

Baird & Warner

Career-long entrepreneur Maya Puentes brings years of interpersonal prowess and business savvy to every transaction.

Her career journey began in the beauty industry, where she became a leading hairstylist and makeup artist in the world of fashion and beyond. Her creativity, design expertise and attention to detail now give her a strategic advantage in helping clients see the full potential of a property. By unlocking possibilities her clients may otherwise overlook, she is often able to offer shorter market times to sellers and widen the perspective of a house to help buyers find their perfect home.

A longtime Chicago resident, Puentes serves a vast array of clientele in Oak Park and the near west suburbs, from first-time homebuyers to downsizers and luxury clients. “I understand that, for most, real estate can mean more than just a piece of property; it is a place where memories are made,” she says. Through her client-centered approach, certified master negotiator skills, transparent communication style, and fun-loving nature, she has built an entirely referral-based business.  “My time behind the chair has provided me the opportunity to really hone in on my active listening skills, which I think is vital when working with people,” she says.

Puentes is proud of her professional achievements amid the turbulence of the past year. Having just three years in the industry at the time, she leveled-up her metrics from her prior Rookie of the Year status to lay claim to Baird & Warner’s Director’s Club award in 2021.

She also possesses a passion for social justice issues, holding an “At Home with Diversity” certification, and strives to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all. “I believe in the power that homeownership has in building generational wealth and investing in one’s future,” she says. “It means a lot to me that I get to be a part of helping people reach their dreams of owning a home, especially those in marginalized communities or those who have historically been unable to.”

A self-described foodie and brunch fanatic, Puentes considers herself to be a lifelong learner who loves traveling, dancing, being in nature, and good times with friends and family.
