Katie Barreto, Broker

Compass

After a decade in real estate, millions sold and hundreds of happy clients, Katie Barreto is excited to do it all again and continue expanding her impact throughout her community.

Barreto is currently serving Chicago and its suburbs with Compass but will soon be expanding into Florida. “Recently, a client asked if I would help him find a home in Florida,” Barreto shares. “I told him I wasn’t licensed there, and he said that he wouldn’t buy a home from anyone else, so I said I would!” Interest in her expansion and the Florida market has already grown among her clients since she shared the news. “There is a great market there for short- and long-term rental, second homes and relocation,” she notes.

Expanding doesn’t come without its challenges, and Barreto looks forward to facing them head on, knowing she has the support and dedication of her friends, family and clients. She is known among her closest circles for her grit, integrity and dedication, which have allowed her to put her clients first and build a successful business largely on referrals and introductions. “I absolutely love my clients. I feel so blessed to be in a career that I love, helping others and facilitating them through one of the biggest decisions of their lives.”

Barreto uses a multipoint approach to help her clients sell their homes quickly, strategic approaches to buying and has created spreadsheets for her investors to determine if a property’s return on investment is worth the purchase. Barreto says her clients repeatedly work with her, and one even said, “There are a lot of things that change in my life, but my Realtor isn’t one of them.”

Barreto is actively involved in numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Alzheimer’s Association, which holds a particularly special place in her heart, as her father suffers from an advanced stage of the disease. She works with their fundraising committee, and “This fall, we are hosting another fundraiser and hope it will be the most successful yet!” Barreto shares. She is also a long time supporter of Angelwish, an organization that grants wishes to children around the world suffering from chronic illnesses, as well as the H Foundation, which provides critical funding for the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
