After shifting course nearly two decades ago from a career in golf course management to the lending business, David Oswald, branch manager at loanDepot, found himself in love with crunching the numbers. “Once I secured a finance position with HSBC Group, I was able to learn the business and realize I love helping people,” he says. “That role helped to shape my career and sharpen skill sets with customers.”
Out to give his clients an exceptional full-service experience, Oswald offers a fast-paced-but-controlled business style that seeks to have a positive attitude above all. “I try to display a lot of energy,” he says. “It’s contagious to my team members, and my customers benefit from these characteristics.” Because he knows the weight and stress of the process, he says that his positive work attitude helps calm his clients and take the burden off their shoulders. He also smooths the process by talking with each customer, to better understand their goals and worries.
Having a happy-go-lucky personality, Oswald manages to build deep and personal connections with each of his clients. This allows him to source most of his business through referrals from previous clients and his professional network. Oswald was the recipient of the Walk of Fame award from HSBC Group, initiated into the Presidents Club of PNC in 2014, and has even been recognized in the 2022 Scotsman’s Guide for Top Originator with loanDepot. On top of this, his clients repeatedly refer to him as dependable, knowledgeable and personable.
Outside of the office, Oswald enjoys traveling with family, playing a variety of outdoor sports and spending quality time with his wife and family. He also enjoys local events such as car shows and concerts.
