Brooke Bakalar Sloane, a broker with Compass, brings something extra to the homebuying process that she joyfully lends to clients: An eye for design. She is responsible for selecting all the finishes that go into each home that she and her husband develop as owners of Sloane Homes. It’s a talent she also utilizes to give buyers and sellers ideas for adapting a home to their needs, a value-add that helps her stand out from many other Realtors. “It’s so rewarding to help my clients turn a house into a home that truly fits their lifestyle,” she shares.
At the start of 2022, Sloane closed on the second-highest priced sale in Highland Park in the past five years. She also found a home for buyers in the specific neighborhood they wanted when there was nothing on the market.
“I found my clients their DREAM home,” she says, noting she called all canceled listings from the past three years to make it happen. “They were able to purchase the home directly from the owner and avoid a bidding war since it wasn’t listed.”
Having grown up on the North Shore and currently raising her family there, Sloane has an extensive network, which gains her access to many off-market properties for her clients. She listens to her clients and only shows them properties that meet their criteria, which explains why 95% of her business is referral based. Known for her honesty and fierce negotiation skills, Sloane is always willing to go the extra mile.
“A client once joked that I’m not only her Realtor, but I’ve become her life coach because I helped her with everything from designing her home to choosing wedding vendors,” she says.
A proud mom of twin daughters, she is involved in the local community and a founder of Brand BUILD, a nonprofit that helps teens through challenging situations as they make and sell jewelry to use for college tuition.
