Michaela Gordon has two passions: real estate and architecture. It was after graduating from Mies van der Rohe School of Architecture at Illinois Tech that Gordon created her own path.
She knew she’d found her home upon realizing at she’d discovered a brokerage where she could pursue both of her dreams. “There were no rules other than giving the very best service, and to this day, that is what I pride myself on,” she says.
Gordon works out of the Bucktown office but has an expert knowledge of neighborhoods all around the city. During her eight years as a broker, Gordon says she’s “done it all.” “I’ve sold co-ops in Kenwood, single-family homes in Irving Park and Deer Park, land in Lincolnshire and condos all over the city,” she explains.
When she’s not selling homes and working on renovations for clients, Gordon connects with her network through her podcast geared toward women in business. “Sometimes it’s tips and tricks for clients, sometimes it’s about building my business and roadblocks I’m facing, but generally it’s something relevant for everyone listening,” she says. The podcast brings women from all different entrepreneurial and business endeavors together to build together.
That’s not the only way she connects with clients. She journals about her showings and posts stories and design projects on social media along with publishing a bi-monthly newsletter. “It’s all going to help in the long run to create this community and funnel the right clients to me and my business,” she says.
Gordon served on the Chicago Association of Realtors’ YPN Committee for three years and is a former board member of the Women’s Council of Realtors. She says her business style is therapeutic and goal-oriented, but she also likes to keep things fun and easy. “I joke a lot that I am my clients’ therapist, interior designer, project manager and Realtor who makes sure we have cocktails at the end of any big event.”
