Centered in Oak Park, River Forest and Forest Park — among many Chicago neighborhoods he works in — Jeffrey O’Connor, a real estate broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ Oak Park Office, has helped countless clients buy and sell residential and income property in the western suburbs.
“My wife and I have lived in Oak Park for 30 years and raised two kids here,” says this seven-year-veteran agent. “Nowadays, I have the joy of helping first-time buyers who played t-ball with my own kids, or working with multiple members of the same family throughout the years.” Tied deeply to his community, O’Connor initially got into real estate after his 35-year career as an illustrator came to a close. Still an artist at heart, he brings pride and a committed work ethic to his clients, leaving his mark in a different way — creating a beautiful experience for clients.
“I want clients to feel like their transaction, no matter how big or small, is the No. 1 thing I’m working on,” O’Connor shares. “I try to anticipate and avoid surprises, and when we do encounter challenges, I create a logical and empathic roadmap to address it and keep moving.”
Holding designations as an Accredited Staging Professional and Real Estate Negotiation Expert, O’Connor also has a keen eye for details. “Staging is so important, so I help clients look at every detail to sell their property faster and for top dollar,” he says. “Similarly, I grew up in a family of tradesman, and I know red flags on potential purchase properties. So, I protect buyers by making note of anything questionable that I see.” In fact, O’Connor has spent many summers volunteering in carpentry for service projects, helping families outside the Chicago area to secure safe and efficient housing.
“Hard work and humor go a long way,” says this kindhearted, sharp-witted, natural-born leader. “Why not make this process fun?”
