Mortgage originator Lisa O’Malley brings 33 years of experience and a holistic approach to every home financing transaction. “Choosing the right mortgage is an important part of building long-term financial security,” she says. “I view every mortgage as a complementary part of each client’s financial portfolio.”

Over the course of her career, O’Malley has personally originated nearly $800 million in loan volume. Mortgage Executive magazine has ranked her among their Top 1% Mortgage Originators in America. Since 2010, O’Malley has served as a vice president of residential lending at Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp. She is based in the company’s Northbrook branch and licensed to originate mortgages in nine states.

“I work with all borrowers interested in purchasing or refinancing one- to four-unit primary homes, second homes or investment properties,” says O’Malley. “I spend as much time as it takes to find possible solutions for any issues that may arise.” She is adept at navigating a range of scenarios, including low down payments, low credit scores, non-payroll income, buying before selling, non-warrantable condos, divorces, non-occupying co-borrowers, foreign nationals and more.

“I am a student of mortgage product and underwriting guideline knowledge,” O’Malley says. “As the lending landscape changes, staying up to date on the current standards helps me solve qualification issues and create opportunities.”

O’Malley strives to create a seamless financing process for her clients, coordinating myriad details behind the scenes to provide a positive experience. “Some loan officers will ask their teams to take over after the application has been received,” she says. “I work directly with my clients from first contact to closing. This is comforting to them and minimizes delays and errors.”

Financing homes is a gratifying experience for O’Malley. “Each closing is a success story,” she says. “I am fortunate to be a part of many happy occasions, whether borrowers are buying a home or improving their financial situation.”

O’Malley has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations over the years and currently loves spending her free time on the tennis court.
