A few months into her job at Compass, Chicago general manager Rachael Rohn learned that the brokerage would be tripling its size overnight by merging with CONLON: A Real Estate Company. “Our No. 1 goal was to ensure that current and new Compass agents were able to continue successfully doing their jobs throughout the transition,” Rohn says. “Our team worked day and night to transition everyone within a short time, including training on our technology and meeting one-on-one with agents to plan out marketing strategies.”

Compass has built a best-in-class marketing and advertising agency that strategically crafts the narrative of its agents and their listings, all tied together under the brokerage’s modern and luxurious brand. Many of the employees on its creative team have marketing experience outside of real estate, giving agents an edge over the competition. “Our marketing staff has managed Super Bowl campaigns and worked with or for brands like Nike, Dyson and ESPN,” Rohn says.

Rohn discovered her innate talent for sales while working in crisis PR for Weber Shandwick. “I was pitching nonstop to banks and the media, and I loved it,” she says. Sales leadership roles at Regency Office Products and Groupon prepared her for helping agents at Compass drive productivity and grow their businesses.

“I connect with Compass agents for a few reasons,” she says. “I respect their hard work and tenacity and they love that I think like a salesperson. I also believe they trust my business acumen.” Rohn takes the time to understand the challenges they face and then takes action. “We move fast as a company, and they know I am always fighting for them,” she says. “I, like all Compass employees, wake up every day obsessing about how to create, deliver and maintain the absolute best agent experience, so the Compass agents can focus on providing the best client experience.” Outside of work, she is a mentor at VentureSCALE, a program that teaches B2B, venture-backed technology companies how to develop and implement sales and revenue growth strategies. She also volunteers for The Samfund, an organization that helps young adult cancer survivors move forward with their personal, professional and academic goals.

For fun, Rohn likes to travel, ski and spend time with her husband Dennis and their puppy Penny at local street festivals.
