In less than three years, Erica Conaty Goldman has built a thriving boutique brokerage.

To date, Goldman, a broker associate with Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty in Winnetka, has achieved a 200 percent increase in sales production year over year in Chicagoland and the North Shore, and has more than $4 million in outgoing referrals through the Sotheby’s International Realty Referral Network. Her clients range from first-time homebuyers to high-profile and high-net-worth individuals.

By representing more than $20 million in real estate transactions in her two and a half years in the business, the former vice president of marketing at NBC Universal in New York and publisher of Sophisticated Living magazine in Chicago met her goal of successfully transitioning into a new career.

“I am a grassroots marketer by training,” she says. “I find it fun and challenging to break the mold when it comes to my listings.”

Relatively new to the industry, she has pushed herself to build a brand that is consistent with her business plan. As a result, she works with a small client base and is able to give them her undivided attention. “It is not lost on me how important a home sale or purchase is,” she says. “I aim to make it the smoothest transaction possible, whether for a first-time buyer or a client adding to their portfolio.”

Her peers have taken notice of her achievements. Goldman was named Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty’s 2016 Rookie of the Year. “My corporate business and marketing background has been crucial to building my real estate business,” she says. “Having a husband who has been in lending and developing for over 20 years is certainly a nice bonus, too.”

Knowing that the plan she put in place when deciding to switch careers is working gives her tremendous satisfaction. “I have made great inroads with our internal referral system,” she says. “I find that I am consistently building my client base as a result. The boutique business I wanted to create is a perfect representation of that.”

An active member of her community, she has served on the Friends of Prentice Board for more than 13 years and will co-chair its annual gala this year for the sixth time.

Goldman lives in Northfield with her husband and three children.
