In the past year, Beth Burtt listed one of the highest-priced condos in Chicago and managed to sell it in a relatively short period of time. “I was surprised I had such a good volume while personally moving twice within the calendar year,” says Burtt, a broker with Baird & Warner.
A former second-grade teacher — she taught for three years in Indiana, North Carolina and Chicago — Burtt has been in real estate for 36 years. Also on her resume is founding director of Burr Ridge Bank & Trust, now Busey Bank.
After relocating from North Carolina to her hometown of Hinsdale, she decided to try selling real estate. “I thought it would be a flexible schedule and having grown up in Hinsdale, I would be a natural,” she says. “My passion for real estate coupled with my work ethic allowed for a smooth transition.”
Her clients range from first-time homebuyers to the highest level of luxury buyers, including celebrities. She serves the Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Western Springs, La Grange and Downers Grove areas. “My clients are always my priority,” she says. “I work diligently to meet their needs.”
Burtt is in the top 1 percent of brokers with Baird & Warner and is a Top Producer in her office. In 2004, she received The Golden Apple award for ethics, as voted on by her peers.

Active in the community she has come to know so well, Burtt carves out time to make a difference in other people’s lives and, in the process, enrich her own, through volunteer work. She is involved with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, a nonprofit organization that aims to solve hunger, and Misericordia, a community that serves individuals with special needs. Supporting Misericordia gives Burtt an up-close look at how its programs maximize potential and improve the lives of people with mild to profound developmental disabilities, many of whom are also physically challenged.
