Housing leaders from across Illinois will join together Monday, October 25 for the 2010 Governor’s Conference on Affordable Housing. Governor Pat Quinn is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the conference at Navy Pier in Chicago.
Hundreds of housing industry professionals representing the public, private and not-for-profit sectors will have the opportunity to take workshops exploring efforts to expand affordable housing opportunities for seniors, working families, homeless individuals and persons with disabilities in Illinois.
Conference sessions will build on the conference theme – “Embracing the Future: Sustaining Affordable Housing” – by addressing the industry’s best practices during these challenging economic times and strategies for navigating the future. Topics include stabilizing communities, homeownership programs, green affordable housing and rural housing issues.
Monday’s conference will also feature the state’s first Governor’s “Champions of Affordable Housing” Awards to honor exemplary leadership in the State of Illinois.
