Seven years ago, fresh out of California, Ami Bumia relocated to Chicago, looking for a change. “I stumbled upon the right people at the right time. I began working in new construction sales,” she says. Today, as a successful new construction specialist, Bumia’s favorite part of real estate, first and foremost, is to make sure her clients’ needs are met, and next, to ensure a smooth transaction with all key players. “The finality of the closing never loses its excitement,” says Bumia.

With a consecutive three-year ranking as one of the top 15 agents at Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty, it seems that her favorite part of the job is also one of her strengths. Last year, she closed over $25 million in sales, and thus far in 2011, she has managed to total $11 million.

Bumia plans to expand her network and potentially create a team of her own agents, but she says the company already has “substantial value” in this marketplace. “We have the look and feel of a boutique firm with the resources of an international company,” she said.

In addition to the prestige of being among Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty top 15, Bumia was voted 2010-2011 Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women.
