The Chicago Association of Realtors announced the passing of Ralph Oliva, a CAR member and top-producing agent with Coldwell Banker, where he worked for more than 25 years.

Instrumental in the development of the South Loop and Museum Campus housing markets, Oliva was one of the top-performing agents in the nation. Operating out of Coldwell Banker’s Lincoln Park Plaza office, he was the No. 1 agent nationwide by transaction sides (and No. 2 in sales volume) in the 2006 “Real Estate Top 200” from The Wall Street Journal and REAL Trends; that year, Oliva closed on 502 units with a sales volume of $181.9 million.

Ralph is survived by his husband Jeff. Funeral services are private, and donations in Ralph’s name may be directed to the Anti-Cruelty Society.

I worked with Ralph for a couple of years at Coldwell Banker and I was impressed with his work. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Very very dedicated realtor.

I remember Ralph and I am so sad to hear this news. I hope the new agents will remember that people went before them and paved the way in this industry. My sincere condolences to Ralph and his family.

I was at Ralph’s office from 2002-2007. I recall one time I called him in 2006 with a really dumb question about parking in the new South Loop development. Within 15 minutes, he called me back and couldn’t have been more pleasant. That really stuck with me, that such a top producer would be so polite and so on top of his game. I was sorry to get the CAR email, he was a great person.
